Protecting Taxpayers: How Christine Myers Preserved Morris County’s Triple-A Bond Rating

September 5, 2025

When Christine Myers was first elected to the Morris County Board of Commissioners in 2016, she made a promise to residents: to protect taxpayer dollars and keep county government fiscally strong. Eight years later, that promise remains the foundation of her service.

A TRIPLE-A BOND RATING: WHAT IT MEANS FOR RESIDENTS

Morris County has maintained its Triple-A bond rating for 50 consecutive years — the highest rating possible. This isn’t just a point of pride; it directly impacts residents’ wallets. A Triple-A rating allows the county to borrow at the lowest possible interest rates, saving millions in taxpayer dollars on infrastructure, public safety, and community projects, and is proof that our fiscally conservative policies work!

Christine has been a consistent advocate for policies that preserve this rating, including:

  • Maintaining a long-term Strategic Plan for county operation.
  • Implementing a  debt reserve policy.
  • Balancing budgets without raising unnecessary taxes

RESPONSIBLE SPENDING, STRONG SERVICES

Fiscal responsibility doesn’t mean cutting services — it means making sure every dollar counts. Under Christine’s leadership,(we act as a board) Morris County has been able to invest in essential functions including law enforcement support, and infrastructure improvements,  and additional investments in human services programs,  while still maintaining financial discipline.

PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE

Christine believes that protecting taxpayer dollars today is what ensures Morris County thrives tomorrow. Her ongoing commitment is to keep the county strong, resilient, and ready to meet future challenges without placing new burdens on families.

As she often says: “Good government is about trust. And trust is earned when taxpayers know their money is handled responsibly.”

JOIN THE EFFORT

Christine is asking residents to join her in continuing this mission — keeping Morris County the best place in New Jersey to live, work, and raise a family, while ensuring that government remains accountable to the people it serves.
